STG Soundlabs Wave Folder Euro rack Module

The STG Soundlabs Wave Folder contains no less than 20 diodes, guaranteed or your money back. When I opened a certain un-named diode-based distortion pedal I found only 4 diodes. 5 times the diodes, five times the price: coincidence?”

The Wave Folder can initially be thought of as a diode distortion circuit utilizing an integrated VCA, this is understood as the input stage. The gain ranges from muted to mangled. The Amount Input allows for a CV to modulate the gain stage. A simple and easily distortable VCA can be derived from just this portion of the controls. Offset input allows for DC to be injected into the circuit, providing additional modulation, similar in character to PWM. The dedicated offset controls allows positive or negative positioning of the incoming offset CV. Lastly is the Fold Mix, a sort of mix control for blending the wave shaped signal.

This module is rather deep, and will not fit into some manufacturers’ shallower tabletop cases.
